I've been going to the gym a lot this year and obviously you start to see the same people there... So I always feel obligated to say something to the familiar faces but its always awkward... Seriously, what do you say??? Man you lookin buff!!! (when really you seen this guy yesterday and they look the same)... I came up with a conclusion if you are having this same problem... Just smile and nod your head and keep walking... This is the way I look at it... I'm not there talk and catch up with people I've never met...(I don't mean that in a bad way, because anywhere else I will talk to anyone) I'm there to get workout in and get out... Plain and simple...

Anywho...

Let me get to the point of why I have the picture above me... I had an experience this past Monday where this small cacausian kid was doing bench press... He had to still be in high school... So he had on some gym shoes that were worn out striped socks pulled all the way up to his knees... Gym shorts that was pulled almost up to his chest... White plain dirty t-shirt tucked in which looked like he wore it for days... Harry potter lookin glasses... Anyways... So I was right next to him benching when I heard this grunting and I was like what the... I immediately looked at this kid next to me and the bar with about 25 pds on each side dropped it on himself... I obviously ran and picked the weight up off of him and asked him if he needed a spot... He said no quickly, got up and ran off... I know some people may find me scary but I hope I didn't hurt the kids feelings... So I'm here to say sorry to that kid... :)

**It's been a while**

Holy moly...

It's been a few months since I've blogged... The reason is a mixture of things... One, I haven't put time aside to blog... Two, it feels like it's been a crazy summer and it just started... Three, I guess I didn't make it a priority to keep it updated so sorry to all of you that kept track of my blog... I will do my best to keep it rolling...

Anywho...

Here are some the crazy things that have happened since the last time I blogged...

Caydance turned big 5... Caydance also graduated from preschool... Her class and I performed the HAKA... It was a blast...

LJ just barely turned 6 months and he just keeps on growing... He's starting to grab things and roll over and soon he should be crawling... It's crazy how different he is compared to his sister Caydance... He's more laid back and let things go by just like his daddy... Caydance is more of the dramatic, have to be involved personality like her mommy...

Finished spring semester and was happy it was over... I needed a summer break bad...

Cherise and I have a couple offers in on homes we want to get in... So cross your fingers... Can't wait!!!

I've also started a biggest loser competition for my family and friends... Right now our BLC (biggest loser crew) is made of 8 people... We've all lost a total of more than 120 pounds put together in only a month and a half... A whole person... Amazing!!!

That's pretty much it... I will blog later hopefully soon... :)

Scouting Combine 2009

It's been a while since I've posted anything... It's a mixture of sadness now that football has gone, craziness in school, and lastly trying to get involved in watching basketball which seems much boring this year except for what the Jazz has been doing... The Scouting Combine is next best thing to watching football because a person is able to see the next future superstars in the NFL... I wasn't invited because I'm already a superstar in the NFL :) (I wish...) Anyways I watched all of the combines twice especially the only two Utah Ute players Sean Smith and Paul Kruger... I wanted to see how they did and if they would help themselves raise their stock in the draft... I still am saddened to think that these two talented players could be playing next year for the Utah Utes... But I think that they are ready for the next step in the their career... Here is how they did...

Sean Smith

He came in at 6'3 and a half weighing at 214 pounds... There was something about him at the combine... He came in with a chip on his shoulder ready to prove something... He was ripped from when I saw him in the Sugar bowl... That told me that he took the preparing to the next level... If you knew Sean, Dude is already confident... But he came as a different person...Quiet (in a confident way) yet he proved his presence there because you can see it in his eyes... Prior to the combine a lot of people thought because of his size that he would be a better fit to play safety...
Sean came back with, "shoot I'm here to play whatever position...whether it be RB, DB or even Safety...I'm here to prove that I can play with the big dawgs." What a perfect answer...
I was impressed with the way Sean Smith came out and did what he did in the combine... I give him a "A-"... He ended up running his fastest 40 at 4.47 seconds... (which is way faster than what I thought he would run...) He surprised a ton of people who didn't know who he was... I've read many articles on draft experts picking Sean Smith to go in the first round... For example one ESPN analyst had 2 paragraphs on Sean saying that he was impressed with the "fluidity" movements he makes with his hips... Obviously this is probably the most important asset as a DB to be able to move your hips and Sean showed that... I'm excited to see where he ends up because the Eagles have two first round picks but I don't see the Eagles picking up another DB unless they switch him to Safety... (Sorry I ramble on sometimes but just thinking here) Any who... Sean was talked up by everyone you can think of... It went from the NFL network crew to SPORTS ILLUSTRATED TO ESPN ANALYSTS TO NFL TEAM DRAFT ANALYSTS... Sean did what he needed to do to be noticed...
Paul Kruger

He came in at 6'5 weighing at 263 pounds... I gave Paul a "B-" grade for his combine because he didn't do anything to raise his stock and he ended up dropping his stock in my opinion... He ended up running his fastest 40 at 4.85 which was a middle of the pack number... Nothing stood out... He also only did 24 reps of 225 which is pretty low for a DE... Again nothing stood out... One thing that went positive was that he showed he can do the practice, cone, bag drills with ease... I've looked at many opinions on Paul Kruger and one NFL analyst predicts that Paul goes late 2ND round... Which before the combine, he was projected late first round to early second round... So I think that he will go either mid or end of 2ND round... Who knows if he would've stayed for one more year??? He would've potentially became an early 1rst round pick...

I know that any NFL team that ends up picking Sean Smith or Paul Kruger will happy with the choice... Both are mature guys and are ready to make an impact... Can't wait to see where they end up and how they do for their NFL careers...

Superbowl 43

Well...Well...Well... What a great superbowl!!! There were some spectacular plays made by both teams... Me being a fan of neither team... My respect definitely grew for both and I expect both of them to be a threat next year...

Who did I cheer for???(some of you may have asked) Like I wrote in my last post, it was for the Pittsburgh Steelers... What was crazy, is that everyone who was at our Superbowl party was all cheering for the Arizona Cardinals except for my mother-in-law and one of my brother-in-laws... That made the environment a little frisky... When it comes to football, I get a little mouthy sometimes a little too mouthy(sorry Pat)... But all in all it is part of loving football and being passionate about it... This game definitely lived up to its hype and it had my in laws house shaking... Let me get off into a tangent real quick...

I just wanted to thank my mother in law and father in law for having that AMAZING Superbowl party!!! The food like always was amazing... We had BBQ meatballs, pork(the best meat ever especially the way my father-in-law makes it), soft shell and hard shell tacos, spicy buffalo wings and BBQ weeines... That didn't include all the yummy mouth watering desserts... Starting with Heather's famous cookies and brownies, doughnuts, and to top it off was vanilla ice cream... THERE WAS SOME GOOD COOKING... Thanks again to all who shared their cooking talents...

"Warren Sapp shouldn't be a analyst..."

Ok...Ok...Now back to football... I had the opportunity to listen to most of the NFL analysts from ESPN, NFL Network and also watched the game again this morning... I get the feeling that most the analysts expected a win from the Steelers... All the predictions were way overboard... For istance, Warren Sapp said, "I expect the Steelers to make this Superbowl forgettable...45-17..." I was like what the... Come on Warren... That was the worst prediction ever given in my opinion... There are some of these EX-players that shouldn't be analysts... Warren Sapp is on that list... Just to go off on another tangent... Did you see what I predicted what the score would be and who would win??? I guessed the score right on 27-23... I read an article on what kind of money was made for those gamblers... There was over 200 million dollars made just by guessing the winner and taking the spread... TOO BAD I'M NOT A GAMBLER though... Anyways I will give you MY GAME CHANGING PLAY OF THE GAME AND ALSO THE PLAYERS OF THE GAME ON BOTH TEAMS...

Amazing speed...

Unbelievable hops... He has everything you want in a WR...

Stating with the Cardinals... Kurt Warner amazed me in every aspect of his game... He was unbelievably quick to get that ball out... There were some jaw dropping throws he made that most NFL QBs couldn't make... He made great decisions and he led his team down the field when they needed it most... Now Larry Fitzgerald... Where was he the first quarter??? Yeah he was shadowed the whole game by Troy Palumalu... I knew that he was gonna break out sooner than later... He did in the second half starting with a leaping grab in the endzone... This man is not human... Even if YAO MING FROM THE ROCKETS WAS GUARDING HIM... HE STILL WOULD'VE MADE THE CATCH... THE GAME CHANGING PLAY OF THE DAY FOR THE CARDINALS was late in the fourth quarter... Steelers up 20 to 16... Steelers were playing cover two, zone blitz where Harrison suppose to drop back like a middle linebacker... Steelers rushed 5 and had 6 to cover... Arizona had a perfect play call and perfect formation... They had one TE and 3 wideouts... Leaving man to man coverage and remember the cover two.... Arizona motioned Fitz to the slot... They did just a simple slant route and Fitz was gone... No one could've caught him(ok maybe HUSSEIN BOLT "the Jamaican sprinter")... Another SPECTACULAR PLAY BY FITZ...

Warner still plays with heart...

CARDINALS MVP'S: Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald and on the defensive side Adrian Wilson and Karlos Dansby who was responsible for the only INT... They both played lights out like this was their last game... These two men are the reason why Pittsburgh sub par running game never got going...

Big Ben

This is some ballerina catch... Unreal!!!

Now on with the Superbowl winners: the Pittsburgh Steelers... Let me start out with there Defense... They were flying around... Lamar Woodley and Harrison were harassing Warner throughout the game and more in the second half... This tandem in my opinion is the best in the NFL... They compliment each other so well... They both play a like... Down hill and with a chip on their shoulder... On the offensive side of the ball... Big Ben was amazing along with the Superbowl MVP Santonio Holmes... Big Ben did what he does best... Buys time with his legs and keeps his eyes down field and strikes... Now holmes looked like a top notch receiver and he will be for many years to come... He's only 24...

Warner being harrassed...

Santonio Holmes the "MVP"

Steelers MVP's: Big Ben and Santonio Holmes were making it rain especially on the final drive... Don't you think that Big Ben's name should be up their with the great QB's in this league(Peyton Manning and Tom Brady)??? In my opinion I think he should be up there... He's now responsible for 18 game winning drives... UNBELIEVABLE... On the defensive side, Harrison and Woodley... Harrison made history with that return for 100 yards... You never hear that a Defensive End/OLB run back for a 100 yards... Usually its a DB or a Safety... That was the Game changing play of the game for the Steelers... Also Woodley was responsible for stripping Warner at the end of the game to keep them from coming back... Him and Harrison was all over Warner...

Lastly, I'm sad now that football has come to a close and look forward to the NFL DRAFT, SIGNING DAY FOR THE UTES AND ALSO THE DAY FOOTBALL STARTS AGAIN... :(

**My Thoughts On Who's Gonna Win the Super Bowl**

What's the one event that is dominating every sports station and sports radio this week??? The Super Bowl... Yes, it is this Sunday Feb. 1... I have mixed feelings on this game... Out of anger and jealousy, I hope that the Steelers put a butt whoopin on the Cardinals(because the cardinals beat my eagles a couple of weeks ago)... On the other hand, I wouldn't mind seeing the Cardinals winning a Superbowl because it will be their first one ever... With this said, I've heard a lot of the NFL analysts and sports talk radio talk up the Cardinals and that they are on a mission... I've even seen a few NFL analysts pick the Cardinals in a upset... Well let me tell you this!!! I'm not having none this Cinderella BS get to me... I've watched both teams last three games a couple of times so here are my keys for both teams in order to win and I will give you my prediction at the end...

Let's start with the Cardinals... Cardinals are yes on a mission...(no not for the church:) They have changed their offensive approach with a reamped running game led by "The Edge" Edgerrin James(who was benched in week 15 and now back with a vengeance) backed up by two special players rookie Tim Hightower and 2nd year man JJ arrington from Cal Berkley... Of course you can't forget "OLD MAN WARNER" still slinging that ball like he was back in Canadian Football League(what the...)... It's not hard to be successful when you have a recieving corps with a bunch of wild animals... "Mr. Jumping Kangaroo" Larry Fitzgerald who can out jump the majority of DB's, "Mr. Fierce Lion" Aquan Boldin who will run you over or out run you so be ready, and lastly "Mr. Spider Monkey" Steve Breaston who is quicker than his feet can hold him at times... On the defensive side... They were way inconsistent during the regular season and they still allowed a lot of points to be scored on them... However, this is what changed... They are much more stingy and the front 4 is getting to the QB... The biggest change that has happened is the Turnover battle... Cardinals already have 11 turnovers forced compared to a whoppin 18 forced during the regular season...

Cadinals Key to Sucess:

-Get the "Edge" invloved early to keep Pittsburg's stout "D" honest...

-Give the "Jumping Kangaroo" the ball as many time as you can...(seriously Warner can just throw it up and Fitz will go get it...)

-Keep Warner clean... O-Line needs to sustain their blocks... (good luck because the defensive of MVP Harrison is coming and don't forget Woodley on the otherside)

-Find ways to create turnovers

-LASTLY KEEP ALL 22 EYES ON #43 THE SAMOAN WARRIOR TROY POLAMALU

Now on to the other side of the field with the Pittsburg Steelers... They have kept the same mentality throughout the season and now through the post season... They play all 4 quarters with PHYSICALITY and if you are still sticking around, don't led up because you'll get your head taken off(go talk to willis mcgahee...he'll tell you)... The biggest change that Pittsburg has made is their running game... They weren't running the ball very much and was putting it in "Big Ben's" hands... There were early injuries to the O-line and some of the O-line left during the off season so they were out of sync... Now that they have played a full season and 2 games in the off season and now have a healthy willie parker backed up by Mewelde Moore... They will have Arizona's D on their heels... Even though the running game was obsolete... The passing game has always been there... Big Ben is playing hurt and doesn't complain one bit(this white man is crazy)... Hines Ward and Sanantonio Holmes are out there to prove they are up there with the best in reciever tandems... On that defense... One word to desribe them "FEROCIOUS!!!!" The #1 defense in the NFL... They will not stop hitting unitl the last whistles blow... This "D" has a ton of playmakers starting with the NFL's Defensive MVP Harrison and Woodley on the other side... Also interior LB's Farrior and DL's Casey Hampton, Kiesel(unfortunetly from BYU but he doesn't bleed blue anymore... Its gold and black)... No one can forget that SOFT SPOKEN MONSTER IN THE BACKFIELD "SAMOAN WARRIOR" TROY PALUMALU... One word desribe him is "UNBELIEVABLE..." Steelers Keys to Success:

-RUN THE BALL DOWN THE CARDS MOUTH...

-Once the running game is established... Hit a home run hitter with a play action pass deep to Ward or Holmes or Washington or even Miller(the TE)...

-Keep the Cards Offense in check

-Create turnovers

-I would say pass block but Big Ben will take care of himself... The O-line needs to be physical and establish their presence in RUN BLOCKING...

-Make the Cards one demionsional... Make Warner beat you with his arm... GOOD LUCK... TROY PALUMALU WILL BE BALL HAWKING...

MY PREDICTIONS:

This was a tough one for me to predict... However, I can't see the Steelers losing this one... All that BS with the "Cards on a Mission." I won't buy in at all... I know a lot of you think that because the Cards handled my Eagles is why I'm rebelling against this "mission." "Not so fast my friend..." I know that the Pittsburgh "Steel Curtain" will take care of Warner and Larry the Kangroo... REMEMBER WHAT THEY SAY DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS...

Final Score:

Pittsburgh 27 Arizona 23

Feel free to comment on your own predictions... A matter of fact BE A MAN AND STATE YOUR OPINION...

What if....

I need to release some of the frustration that I have from seeing my Philadelphia Eagles loose yesterday... First off, I almost turned the T.V. off after seeing the defense not play defense (pretty ironic) in the first half... We made Kurt Warner and Larry "Catch anything" Fitzgerald look like super stars... Which they are... Don't get me wrong... I felt like their offensive coordinator new exactly when our "D" was gonna blitz... I give props to him for making our "D" look FOOLISH... 24-6 halftime...

Watching the second half... I felt good because I started to see the "REAL" Philadelphia Eagles team come out... The "D" started to pressure Warner and he started to falter... Mcnabb started to pick their secondary apart... He hit Jason Avant, Kevin Curtis(He's from Utah state who went to Bingham High School here in Utah), Brent Celek, and also Desean Jackson... I was hootin and hollerin like there was no tomorrow... Until, the Cards put their foot down in the Fourth Quarter... Again there was great play calls that made me believe that this Cardinal team really wants it... There was 4 mins left in the game and it was 3rd and goal... It seemed like it was in slow motion but then all the sudden Tim Hightower (who???) was in the end zone... They called a perfect call... Our "D" blitzed the heck out of Warner on the weak side and we even put him on his can but that didn't stop him from side arming the ball to Hightower(who???) on a screen pass that had 10 fat men to block for him... Hightower was in... Score 25 - 30... Wait...Wait...Wait... They kept there offense on the field and was lining up to go for 2 points... Why not??? Everything else has worked for them... They played 4 wide outs and it was a simple slant route that Akeem Jordan (our outside linebacker) and Quinten Demps(our rookie DB/FS) couldn't decide who to cover... So yeah it ended up being a successful 2 point conversion...

Watching the Last 2 mins and a half... 32-25... I didn't know what to think or hope for... I just wanted the Eagles to score a darn touchdown... I was confident in Mcnabb's arm so I was still comforted... Mcnabb did a great job converting on 3rd downs and then it came to a 3rd and 10... Hank basket ran a in route about ten yards deep and he was wide open... I was thinkin money...money...money... Hit "x"... Hit "x"... Then I came to reality that I wasn't playing madden... Mcnabb throws a terrible ball that was way behind the reciever... 4th and 10... I'm seriously praying to get a first down... (ok maybe not)... The most debatable/controversial call of the game... Kevin Curtis does a 12 yard hitch route and the defender (Rod Hood "former eagles corner") was hanging onto him and there was no penalty called... They even replayed that play and Troy Aikman was like, "I can't believe the Ref's didn't call PI...He (Rod Hood) is all over curtis even humping his leg..." Ok I added the humping part but still that call should have been made in a situation like this... The superbowl on the line and it's taken away by an idiot REF...

Ok...Ok...Ok... I'm not here to point fingers at anyone... That's why I labeled this section as What if... What if our "D" showed up in the first half... What if Larry Fitzgerald broke his leg before all the catches...(ok thats a little absurd... Just thinking here) What if our Offense scored more than 6 pts in the first half... What if David Akers didn't miss that one field goal and a PAT... The Cards would have been leading by only 3 in the last couple of mins... That takes a ton of pressure off of Mcnabb... Last but not least... What if those blind refs would've called PI on that last play where Rod Hood was humping Kevin Curtis's Leg... Here is the proof... It is the last 25 secs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fDdkCl8cE0 Click on the link and you'll know what I'm talkin about...

I'm off my soapbox now... I can say what if's to a lot things that happen yesterday in the NFC Championship but the Cardinals were the better team from the beginning to the end... Congratulations to the Cardinals... More like Congrats to that "FREAK" Fitzgerald who catches anything...
GO PITTSBURG!!! :)
